Mobile Medical Disaster Relief specializes in providing medical care to rural and marginalized communities in developing countries. MMDR has developed an efficient and effective method of delivering healthcare from a portable platform that readily configures to whatever situation presents itself. MMDR is able to easily treat the majority of health concerns that are presented at these clinics. MMDR has also worked to develop numerous relationships in the countries where they operate so that complex patients can be referred to the hospitals that can offer long term and more in-depth care.
Recognizing that pure water is essential to health and wellness throughout the world, MMDR provides a number of methods for water purification and filtration depending upon the needs of the situation.
MMDR typically either provides water on a household basis or for an entire community. In Haiti, where cholera has ravaged many of the rural villages MMDR has supplied Sawyer 0.1 water filters to individual families to help stem the spread of the deadly disease. In Ghana, where entire island villages depend upon the contaminated local lake water, MMDR provides a New Life water purifier with a great enough capacity for the entire village. Other situations call for other means of providing clean water.
Mobile Medical Disaster Relief is committed to partner with the communities where MMDR works to aid in developing the surrounding village for the betterment of its people. In Haiti, MMDR has partnered with Children of Hope Orphanage and Hospice to see that the children in the town are cared for. MMDR has also provided housing for impoverished families and widows, taught ESL courses, and worked with local artisans in developing a market for their handmade goods. MMDR is also in talks with a local mayor in developing a city-wide water system for fresh water.
Throughout Africa, MMDR has worked with communities to create micro-finance projects, animal farming programs, and preventative healthcare measures like smokeless cookstoves and water purification.
